Museum of Pell City to Open “You Are a Work of Art” by Penny Arnold

PELL CITY, Ala. — The Museum of Pell City will present You Are a Work of Art, a new exhibit by local artist and retired educator Penny Arnold, opening March 5 and continuing through March 28.

An opening reception will be held March 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the museum, located inside the Pell City Municipal Complex. The reception will include wine and cheese, and guests will have the opportunity to meet and speak with the artist.

Arnold, an Alabama native, has worked in a variety of artistic media throughout her career, including graphic design, stained glass, mosaics, sculpture and drawing. Her recent focus on painting reflects her continued exploration of color, texture and form through portraits, wildlife and landscapes.

The exhibit’s title is inspired by a phrase Arnold writes on the back of each finished piece — a quiet affirmation intended to encourage and uplift.

“Experiencing and creating art always brings me great joy, and it is my way of sending a little more light into the world,” Arnold said.

This marks the museum’s second art show of the year and continues its commitment to showcasing local artists and offering diverse cultural experiences to the community. Artwork featured in the exhibit will be available for purchase throughout the show’s run.

Museum hours are Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
