Hiring Welder/Fabricator

The Trinity Design Group is looking to hire a Welder/Fabricator to work in our weld  department in Pell City, AL. The Welder's primary responsibility is repairing damaged  shipping racks utilizing MIG welding of steel (also, stainless steel) parts, as well as by use  of oxy-acetylene torches. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy, and timeliness in  the welding area. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Mig welding, including the following: 

Create quality welds. 

Inspect welds for accuracy. 

Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting  steel/aluminum parts. 

Change wire, and welding, as needed. 

Change gas tanks, as needed. 

Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished  products to the proper location. 

Ensure all equipment is properly set up and used safely and that all safety  devices are in use. 

Operate forklift, if required and trained. 

Performs first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required  by standards. 

Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required. 

Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.


Other duties and responsibilities:
 

 Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing  plant. 

Required to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance system. Other job-related duties may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this  position.



Work Relationships & Scope:
 

Reports directly to the shift supervisor; Daily interaction with operations/operators and Set-Up employees.

 Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Timeliness, Reliability, and Thoroughness of work  performed; gains the trust and respect of the shift supervisor, co-workers, and  other employees; develops good working relationships with the shift supervisor,  co-workers, and other employees. Develops working knowledge of the  production environment and can respond to change. Work to Continuously  Improve the operations of the Department through Lean activities and  Improvement suggestions.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

 

Minimum 2 years of experience working with MIG welding. 

The position requires good mathematical ability and the ability to read and  interpret blueprints. 

Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as  calipers, micrometers, protractors, and tape measures. 

Experience using oxy-acetylene torches 

Required to pass a welding test (Applicants will need to bring their welding gear  for testing)

Working Conditions:

 

This position works in a production environment with the risk of injury. Some  safety equipment must be worn when working with equipment in the shop.  Bending, lifting, and pushing up to 70 pounds are required. 

Positions are being filled for day shift. 10-hour shifts – Four days a week.
