Micah Melnick is the founder and Executive Director of BigHouse Foundation. After starting BigHouse as college students in 2009 while pursuing her undergraduate dual degree in Art and Human Development from the University of Alabama, she and her husband returned to their hometown of Opelika to serve the East Alabama foster care community. Micah enjoys her work at BigHouse connecting community foster and adoptive families to vital community resources.
BigHouse has served over 25,000 children in Alabama's foster care system over the past 15 years. The presenting sponsor for this virtual program is the Walker Area Community Foundation. This program was made possible by the generosity of these Cary Center Community and Collegiate program sponsors: Auburn University Outreach; East Alabama Community Foundation; River Region United Way; Auburn University Outreach-Office of Public Service; Social U; Drummond Thorne Stukes Fund for Excellence in the Cary Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, and a community service grant made possible by state senator Randy Price and state representative Joe Lovvorn.
