The Cary Center and Shannon Jenkins, President and CEO of the United Way of East Central Alabama, to Provide FREE Virtual Training for Nonprofits
The Auburn University College of Human Sciences’ Cary Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies will feature Shannon Jenkins, President and CEO of the United Way of East Central Alabama, in a virtual program, titled “Collaboration in the Community for Success,” which will take place on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm CST via Zoom. Shannon Jenkins was named the President & CEO of United Way of East Central Alabama in August 2014. His career with United Way began 20 years ago after his voluntarism with the organization created a deep passion for serving those in need. He served the organization in other capacities, including Campaign Coordinator and Director of Marketing & Communications, prior to being named CEO. Shannon has led United Way through a transformation of revenue and
program diversification, growing the organization’s revenue streams by 276% since 2015. In 2022, United Way of East Central Alabama was ranked #4 on Charity Navigator’s national “Top 10 Charities Worth Watching” list. In 2021, Shannon was appointed by the City of Anniston to lead its Community Task Force on Homelessness. This work resulted in securing $1.2 million to establish a new 24/7 emergency & transitional housing facility, to include a framework for
comprehensive wrap-around services, serving homeless residents throughout Calhoun County and the region. In addition to being CEO at United Way, Shannon currently serves as the President of Calhoun Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Vice-Chair of the Homeless Coalition of
Northeast Alabama, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for United Ways of Alabama and serves as a Board Member for the Rotary Club of Calhoun County.
